Lithuania is currently 12th out of 27 European Union (EU) countries.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Denmark (90 points) yet again is in first place together with Finland (87 points), New Zealand (85 points) and Norway (84 points) also remaining at the top.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Estonia scored 76 points this year and ranks 12th (last year \u2013 74 points and 14th place), Latvia scored 60 points and ranks 36th (last year \u2013 59 points and 39th place), Poland received a score of 54 and is in 47th place (last year \u2013 55 points and 45th place), Belarus \u2013 37 point and 98th place (last year \u2013 39 points and 91st place), Russia \u2013 26 points and 141st place (last year \u2013 28 points and was in 137th place).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The average score of the European Union is 64 points out of 100.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cI think this year&#8217;s results send a clear message &#8211; the law is only as good as its enforcement. Without taking more concrete and proactive actions in practice, Lithuania&#8217;s results will not change. First and foremost, it is crucial that the leaders of private and public sector institutions take a clear position that bribery is not tolerated in their work environment. I think it is high time to agree that this is an integral part of the conversation about the quality of services and trust in the state.\u201d \u2013 said Ingrida Kalinauskien\u0117, CEO of Transparency International Lithuania.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Corruption Perceptions Index is one of the world\u2019s most famous anti-corruption indicators, which ranks countries and territories based on how effectively they are able to manage corruption. The score of a country or territory reflects the perceived level of corruption on a scale from 0 to 100, where 0 indicates that a country is perceived as highly corrupt, whereas 100 means that it is perceived as very clean. The level of corruption in the public and government sectors is evaluated by various experts and business leaders.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">TI Lithuania reminds that the Government has decided to measure its success in the fight against corruption based on the CPI. The Programme of the Government states that in 2024 Lithuania should receive a score of 70. The National Agenda for the Prevention of Corruption (2022-2033) sets out a goal for Lithuania to receive 74 points in 2033.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The following sources were used in determining Lithuania\u2019s CPI 2023: 1. World Economic Forum Executive Opinion Survey; 10.
