AB “Telia” (74 points), UAB “Ericsson Lietuva” (55 points), UAB “Lietuvos monetų kalykla” (45 points) and UAB “Fima” (45 points) are among companies that publish most about their anticorruption measures, shows the latest research by Transparency International Lithuania (TIL). The aim of the research was to evaluate transparency initiatives and anti-corruption methods of the companies that won public procurement bidders of defense and national security (2014-2015). The results revealed that two thirds (63%) of all the investigated companies received 0 points.
The study investigated 46 companies located in Lithuania that provide products and services like airship parts, ammunition, mine detectors, programming equipment, blacksmith services, helmets, printing, or security.
Between 2014 and 2015, the total value of the contracts equaled 90,6 million EUR, which is 57% of all the defense and national security public contract spending during the period.
The overall index – 9 out of 100 possible points.
AB “Telia” scored 60 points in terms of transparency and internal anti-corruption initiative publications, UAB “Garsų pasaulis” gained 92 points regarding business ethics, AB “Telia” received 80 points for employee training, and both AB “Telia” and UAB “Ericsson Lietuva” each scored 93 points whistleblowing channels.
The highest ranked sectors where companies provided more information, was business ethics. One fifth of the investigated companies revealed information about their zero-tolerance policy towards corruption, their gifts policy and how they mitigate probable conflicts of interests. On average, companies received 13 out of 100 possible points in this specific area.
The least amount of information was published about corporate anticorruption plans. In this area, the companies received only 3 points out of 100.
The study analyzed the websites of those companies that were located in Lithuania and that won the public contracts in the defense and national security sphere during the period of 2014-2015.
