Mrs. Cihan Sultanoglu, UN Resident Coordinator and UNDP Resident Representative, Mr. Valentinas Junokas, director of Special Investigation Service of Republic of Lithuania, Mrs. Laima Zilinskiene, director of “Transparency International” Lithuanian Chapter have signed up the contract.
This project on “Promoting Transparency and Accountability in Public Administration” is envisaged as a joint initiative to strengthen transparency and accountability within the civil service, and will be carried out by to major partners: “Transparency International” Lithuanian Chapter and the Special Investigation Service. It will consist of three major objectives:
– Development of a map of current hot-spots and the spread of corruption in Lithuania using an institutional and geographical profile;
– Development of responsive measures for corruption prevention through a consultative process;
– Awareness raising campaign to present the report contents and proposed preventive measures (such as ethics training), to national and local authorities, business community, NGOs, academia, and the media.
The stakeholders will include the Civil Service Department of the Ministry of the Interior, a body responsible for the professional formation of civil servants and Lithuanian Institution of Public Administration.
Management of financial inputs will be carried out in accordance with UNDP financial rules and regulations.
